Kermit Van Goldman, age 75, a resident of Pelahatchie, died Wednesday January 11, 2017, following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were conducted at 11am Saturday, January 14, 2017, from the Cross Roads Baptist Church with interment in the Cross Roads Baptist Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5pm-8pm Friday January 13, 2017 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Rev. Roy Myers, Rev. Charles Wallace, Rev. Vic Bowman and Rev John Vaughn officiated.
Mr. Bowman was born on July 13, 1941 in Neshoba County to his parents; Elton Goldman and Florence Rushing Goldman. He later moved to the Cross Roads community. He was an active member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church. He retired from Frierson-Bailey Company in 2006. He enjoyed being with his family and friends in the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Cloys Goldman and Ladell Goldman.
Survivors include his wife of over 51 years, Janice King Goldman of Pelahatchie, mother-in law Neola Sherman of Brandon and son Jeff Goldman (fiance’ Lori Watkins) all of Pelahatchie. He is also survived by Debbie Young – a very special niece of Byram. Other survivors include one brother; Vernell Goldman and wife Florence of Vero Beach, FL and one sister; Sybil Myers (Roy) of West Point, MS and a sister-in-law Sybil Goldman. He also leaves three grandchildren: Michelle Weeks and husband Dr. Stephen Weeks, Shannon Wheat and husband Daniel, Kristen Worrell and husband Jordan and two great-grandchildren Kaylin Wheat and Parker Worrell.
Pallbearers were Butch Varner, Jimmy Huffman, Jackie Shivers, Dale Bridges, Tommy Moore and Bill Brown. Honorary pallbearers were men of the Sunshine Sunday School Class of Cross Roads Baptist Church.
