Rev. Altus Lamar Martin, 85, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Peachtree Village in Brandon. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30pm Friday, June 7, 2013 at Crossgates United Methodist Church in Brandon. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 8:00pm Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Graveside services will be held at 4:30pm Friday in the Felder United Methodist Church Cemetery in Pike County, MS.
During his ministry, Rev. Martin faithfully served United Methodist churched in Fayette, Osyka, Mississippi City, Collins, Bay St. Louis, Hattiesburg (Court Street), Jackson (Alta Woods), Yazoo City, Picayune, Brandon (First), Crystal Springs and Pearl.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Enoch and Ada Martin; his wife of 61 years, Hilda O’Quin Martin; and two brothers, Paul Martin and Carl Martin.
He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Mercier and husband Tom; son, Kenneth Martin and wife Laurie; sisters, Edna King of Summit and Hilda Blackwell of Tylertown; brother, Rev. Glenn Martin of Brookhaven; grandchildren, Chris Ebelhar and wife Kristen of Flowood, Jonathan Ebelhar of Jackson, and Ashley Ramsay and husband Justin of Portland, Oregon; great grandson, Bentlee Kade Tavares-Ebelhar of Kosciusko; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Chris Ebelhar, Jonathan Ebelhar, Justin Ramsay, Lucky Martin, Monty Martin, Greg Martin, Mark Martin, Alan O’Quin, and Mike Necaise.
Memorials may be made to Crossgates United Methodist Church, Felder United Methodist Campground, or the charity of your choice.
