This verse truly exemplifies the life of La Nelle Collier Mashburn who passed peacefully on September 13, 2016 at the age of 89. She was born May 8, 1927, the oldest of five children to Sidney and Vesta Collier of Pelahatchie, MS.

She attended Belhaven College and Mississippi College and then married her high school sweetheart, Jimmy Caid Mashburn. They lived in Brandon where they raised four children. She retired from the Brandon School System.

A Sunday School teacher for many years, she was a true believer and loved the Lord with all her heart. She was an active member of Brandon Baptist Church.

She was predeceased by her parents, he husband, and a son, Kinny. Surviving her are three children: Kay (Dr. Archie) Howard of Forest, Vicki (Dwight) Pickle of Houston, Texas, and Sidney (Ann) of Atlanta, Georgia; her sisters, Marjorie Dell Beasley, Ann Gifford, and brother, Sidney (Casey); grandchildren, Dr. Austin Howard, Dr. Coleman Howard; Wyatt Pickle, Caid Pickle; Elizabeth, Louisa, Daisy, Harriet, and Pauline Mashburn.

Mrs. Mashburn’s last few years were spent at Lackey Convalescent Home in Forest. Her family would like to acknowledge the incredible love and care she received from all her caretakers while at Lackey.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday evening, September 15, 2016 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. A private graveside services will be held on Friday morning, September 16, 2016. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brandon Baptist Church Building Fund, 100 Baptist Drive, Brandon, MS 39042, or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Mississippi, 1907 Dunbarton Drive, Suite C, Jackson, MS 39216.
