Larry Sistrunk

William Larry Sistrunk  went home to be with the Lord on July 5, 2019 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland MS. He was born on August 1, 1951, the son of Willie Gene “Pete” Sistrunk of Sebastopol and Bobbie Nell Gainey Sistrunk of Morton, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Carol Cooper of Morton on June 12, 1970. They celebrated 49 wonderful years together last month. Visitation was Sunday, July 7, at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton from 5:00—8:00PM and Monday from 10:00—to 10:50AM at Springfield Baptist Church, where he was a member, followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 AM with interment in the church cemetery. Larry was a self-employed contractor/carpenter who strived to make his work nothing less than perfect for his customers. Most of his customers and business associates became true and fast friends with Larry for the remainder of his life. Larry loved to fish and hunt with anyone who could be persuaded to go with him, enjoying being out in the beauty of God’s creation, whether the hunt was successful or not. He was loving and supportive of all his family, including extended family members. He is survived by his wife Carol, his precious daughters Wendy Stuart and Amanda Patrick, their husbands whom he considered sons, Doug Stuart and Nathan Patrick, his favorite granddaughter Lexey Stuart, and his beloved grandsons Jett Stuart, Peyton Patrick and Cason Patrick. He is survived by his sisters Deborah Robinson (Howell), and Pam Babb (Danny) of Carthage, and brother Dennis Ray Sistrunk (Alice) of Puckett, Allen Minshew ( Jo Gwen), of Carthage. He was preceded in death by a brother Curtis Dewayne Sistrunk. He is also survived by sister-in-law Jamie Ayles (Rodney), uncle and aunt Maxwell & Nancy Gainey, uncle Randall Gainey, aunt Jean Gainey Alford, of Morton aunt and uncle Geneva Sistrunk Bailey (Jimmy) of Ringgold,aunt Dean Sistrunk Devers of Sebastopol, Betty Sistrunk Box of Birmingham, uncle Bill Sistrunk of Winnsboro, TX and several special nephews, nieces, and great-nieces and many special cousins. Pallbearers are Aaron Cooper, Danny Sistrunk, Kevin Gainey, Lee Stuart, Jody McCurdy, Ronnie Frith, Moe Adcox, Michael Betts, Tommy Earls, Brad Earls; Honorary pallbearers are Bob Lyle, Kent Pickett, Bob James, Lavon Purvis, Dr. Lee Nicols, Gaines Massey, Paul Morehead, Lamar Burkes  and the Deacons of Springfield Baptist Church.

Services are entrusted with Ott and Lee Funeral Home of Morton.
