Laura Shockley Harris, 85, a resident of Brandon, MS passed from this world on June 26, 2016, after a four year battle with dementia. Visitation will be held from 5 pm until 8 pm Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.
Mrs. Harris was a native of Carroll County, MS. She was a model employee at Baldwin Piano Company in Greenwood, Mississippi, and later at General Cable/Airwick Industries in Brandon, Mississippi. Although she had to leave school in junior high to work in the fields, she returned to the classroom at age sixty and obtained a high school diploma through the GED program. Perhaps her happiest moments were spent with her grandchildren, all of whom she dearly loved. She spent many afternoons shuttling little baseball players, cheerleaders, and ballerinas between practices. Anyone that met her quickly realized that she was one of those rare personalities who had nothing but love in her heart. We should all aspire to love and respect other people the way that she did. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Laura is survived by her three sons, Turner Miller, Oby Miller (Denise), and Danny Miller (Tracy); her grandchildren, Jason Miller, Kelly Hawkins(Jason), Reed Miller (Brynne), Kendall Hanberry (David), Mary Paxton Miller, Jack Miller, and Kate Miller.
