LaVonne Harbour Overby, 94, joined her Heavenly Father on August 2, 2021.  Funeral services will be 11:30am Friday, August 6, 2021, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.  Visitation will begin at 10am prior to the service.  Interment will follow in Brandon Memorial Gardens.

Born in 1926, and grew up in Centralia, IL to parents, Hubert and Goldia Harbour.  Her family moved to Coffeeville, MS while she was a senior in high school.  She attended Draughon’s Business College in Jackson, MS.

She married David Marion Overby in 1949 and has been a resident of Brandon since that time. She and Marion were married 50 years at time of his death in 1999.

Mrs. Overby was retired from the State of MS, having worked for Rankin County Welfare Department in Brandon for 28 years.  She loved playing bridge with her friends and working in her flowers.

She was a Charter member of Brandon Baptist Church.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth Harbour and Gale Harbour; daughter-in-law, Joanne Overby and a son-in-law, William Spears.

Mrs. Overby is survived by her children, Gail Spears of Brandon, David (Gail) Overby of Madison, Stuart Overby of Brandon and Marian (James) Painter of Brandon; 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Rowena Harbour and Jimmie Harbour.

Memorials may be made to Brandon Baptist Church, in honor of LaVonne Overby.
