Lawrence “Rounman” Chambless, 74, went to be with the Lord Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Visitation is Monday, July 4, 2011 from 5 – 8 pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 10 am from the Chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon with burial to follow in Brandon Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Chambless was born on July 4, 1936 in Rolling Fork, MS. He had been a resident of Pearl/Brandon since 1964. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Flowood, MS. He has been involved with street rods and racing his entire life. He was Street Rodder of the Year in 1999 and Street Rodder Hall of Fame in 2006. He was a family man who loved his family dearly. He retired in 1986 as a driver for Ryder Truck Lines after 28 years of service.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Lee Earl Layton Chambless; daughter, Lee Ann Boykin and husband, Hugh; two sons, Danny Chambless and Mike Chambless all of Brandon, MS; three sisters, Nancy Jernigan and husband, Jim of Vicksburg, MS, Joyce Jones of Vicksburg, MS and Donna Moulder and husband, Dean of Utica, MS; two brothers, Curtis Brewer and wife, Janice and Earl Brewer and wife, Sandi all of Vicksburg, MS; and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers in law, W. H. Layton and wife, Judy of Monroe, LA and Pete Smith and son, Matthew of Puckett, MS; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Hederman Cancer Center, 1227 N. State St., Jackson, MS or First Baptist Church, Brandon, MS, Living Legacy.
