Lawrence Moore

Lawrence Blanton Moore, age 86, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021.
Visitation will be at Ott & Lee Funeral Home Brandon, MS on Thursday, September 2, 2021, from 1:00-2:00pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00pm in the Ott & Lee Chapel. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence I. Moore and Lena Thomas Moore of Edinburg, MS; and his sisters Jean Skinner, Billie Skinner and Jesse Savell.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Sylvia Hatton Moore; son, Michael L. Moore (Joan) of Brandon, MS and daughter, Laurie A. Moore of Brandon, MS.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Emily Moore Jones (Josh) of Clarksville, TN, Ryan Moore (Robin) of Marietta, GA, and Adam Moore (Ashley) of Brookhaven, MS; and great grandchildren, Lainey Jones, Jasper Jones, Noah Moore, Nolan Moore, Harper Moore and Kaylee Moore.

Mr. Moore was an avid reader of books and was always interested in learning. He enjoyed a long career in electronics repair. For many years he owned Radio Specialists and was the AC Delco authorized repair shop for all the car dealerships in the Jackson area. His favorite hobby was amateur radio, and he was an active member of JARC for many years.

Mr. Moore loved his church and was very active at First Baptist Church Brandon where he served as a Deacon. In the 1980's he was instrumental in helping to start their TV ministry and remained actively involved for many years. This area of ministry grew into the Media Ministry as it is called now. For many years, Mr. Moore, along with daughter Laurie, maintained and published the Church Prayer Guide.  He was known around FBC as " the great encourager". He was always ready with a kind and encouraging word for anyone doing ministry.
