Leatrice M. Hollingsworth (Carlisle)
June 30, 1927 — December 14, 2016
Leatrice Hollingsworth Carlisle, age 89, a resident of Chesapeake, VA., formerly of Lake, MS., died Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at the Chesapeake Regional Hospital following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30pm Sunday, December 18, 2016, from the chapel of the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest with interment to follow in the Sharon Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton County. Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm Saturday, December 17, 2016. Elders Hilton Moore, Craig Blair and Chris Hollingsworth will officiate.
Mrs. Carlisle was born in Newton County, MS to her parents LeRoy May and Annie B. Pennington May on Thursday, June 30, 1927. She was a member of the Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church in Richland, MS. Prior to her retirement, she was District Manager for Avon. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Fletcher J. “Jake” Hollingsworth, a second husband, Harold Carlisle and a son, Rooney Hollingsworth.
Survivors include her 8 children: Byron Hollingsworth and wife Nancy of Lake, MS. Anthony Hollingsworth of Lawrence, MS. James “Jimmy” Hollingsworth of Pigeon Forge, TN. Gloria H. Jackson of Chesapeake, VA. Fletcher Hollingsworth and wife Isabel of Seveirville, TN. Chris Hollingsworth and wife Sherry of Madden, MS. Kenneth Hollingsworth and wife Rosalie of Lake, MS and Keith Hollingsworth and wife Sherri also of Lake, MS. a sister; Patsy Johnston of Marion, MS and a legacy of 27 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Her sons will serve as pallbearers.
