Funeral services for Mrs. Leila Gray will be conducted on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 2 pm from the Ott & Lee Chapel. Interment will follow in the Cooperville Baptist Cemetery in the presence of immediate family members under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Visitation will be Monday from 10 am until 12 noon at the funeral home.
Mrs. Gray was born April 30, 1911 to her parents, the late Abe & Melissa Smith Gordon in the Barefoot Springs Community of Rankin County and passed away December 22, 2015 at the Magee General Hospital at the age of 104 years, seven months, and 22 days.
She was retired from Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest with over 40 years of service to the medical profession, particularly in the emergency room department. She enjoyed shopping, most of all, as well as gardening, visiting with her children and their families, and gathering with her friends. She was a Baptist by faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband: James Robert Gray; two children: Joyce Day of Jackson and John Paul Gray of Louisville.
Survivors include one daughter: Jane Gray Roberson and her husband, Claude of Jackson; nine grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and Mrs. Gray lived to see 4 five generations in her family; two sisters: Neva Massey of Pelahatchie and Vera Mema of Quitman; and one brother: Otis Gordon of Madison; numerous nieces and nephews.
