LELA A. JOHNSON
LUDLOW, MS
Mrs. Johnson passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the age of 90 in the VA Nursing Facility in Kosciusko, MS following a lengthy illness. She was a lifelong resident of the Ludlow and Coal Bluff Communities in Western Scott County.
She volunteered to serve her country during WWII as a member of the Army Women’s Auxiliary Corp. in Riverside, California where she received several medals for service and an honorable discharge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Arie Johnson; sister, Myrtle Carroll and brothers, Lewis, Lester and Charlie Johnson.
Mrs. Johnson leaves behind her husband of 64 years, Leo Johnson Jr.; her son, Lonnie C. Johnson, former State Representative from Rankin County and his wife, Lydia of Asheville, NC; 3 grandchildren, Russ Johnson and wife Presley of Vaughn, MS, Amanda Mitchell and husband, Darrell of Mansfield, TX, Brian Johnson and wife, Jennifer of Asheville, NC; 6 great grandchildren, Hailey, Mary Stewart, Ainsley, Peyton, Ana Russell and Landon.
Grandmother’s passion was her belief in God, her family, her flowers and Polled Hereford Cattle.
Visitation was held Friday , December 17th from 5-8 p.m. at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton, MS. Services were held Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton and burial in the Ludlow Cemetery.
