Mr. Lenard W. Jordan, age 82, a resident of Pelahatchie passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Mississippi Care Center in Morton. Visitation was held 5-9pm Monday, November 23, 2015 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and 10:30am-11am Tuesday, November 24th at Crossroads Baptist Church. Funeral services were held 11am Tuesday at Crossroads Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Bro. John Vaughn and Bro. Vic Bowman officated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mr. Jordan graduated in 1953 from Crossroads High School. He joined the United States Army in 1953 and served 2 years and also played on the Army baseball team. Mr. Jordan attended Draughn's Business School for 2 years after leaving the military and then worked for Deposit Guaranty Bank where he met the love of his life, Annie Ruth Barron. In younger years he loved to bird hunt and fly fish. When he retired in 1990 from Sperry Vickers, he and Annie Ruth loved to travel and were members of two camping clubs, Allegro Chapter 95 and Dixieland Sams. They retired from camping in 2012 and enjoyed spending time with family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents Benjamin J. Jordan and Ollie Hayman Jordan, brothers Lamar and Frank Jordan, sister Irene Batte, and step granddaughter Terri Goodson.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years and 11 months, Annie Ruth Barron Jordan of Pelahatchie; 3 children, Earl Jordan (Connie) of Pelahatchie, Danny Jordan (Marguerite) of Pelahatchie and Pam Andrews (Mike) of Dickson, TN; 7 grandchildren, Erin Hill (Bill), Trevor Jordan, Danielle Jordan, Drew Jordan, Ben Scarberry, Kathryn Andrews, and Kelli Andrews; 2 great grandchildren, Hurston Hill and Emmalyn Scarberry; 5 step grandchildren, 11 step great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Drew Jordan, Trevor Jordan, Ben Scarberry, Timmy Jordan, Kevin Jordan, and Dwayne Ensign. Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Key Sr., Dub Bridges and Bob Dreding.
Memorials may be made in his honor to the Crossroads Baptist Church Building Fund.
