Mr. Leo Jackson, age 87, a resident of Morton passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Mississippi Care Center in Morton. His visitation was held 5-9pm Monday, November 03, 2014 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral services were held 2pm Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Groveton Presbyterian Cemetery. Bro. Bernie Flemming, Bro. Norman Sanders and Bro. David Brewer officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Leo was born in Scott County on May 13, 1927. He loved to fish and work in his garden. He was proud to have served in the United States Army. Leo loved his family very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, W.F. “Judge” Jackson and Flossie Nutt Jackson; granddaughter, Amanda Lynn Measells; 6 sisters, Winnie Lee Palmer, Clois Jean Wicker, Lizzie Mae Stubbs, Pauline Waggoner, Linnie Alford and Joe Webb; brother, Lonnie Ray Jackson and 1 infant brother;
He is survived by his children, Angela “Angel” Huff of Fannin; Myra McLin (Preston) of Morton and William Leo “Lee” Jackson of Morton; 5 grandchildren, Ashley Cockrell, Blake Cockrell, Whitney Denton (Michael), Cody Lee Jackson and Kristen McCurdy Champion (Adam); 5 great grandchildren, Paris Taylor, Elaylah Bliss Denton, Bralynn Nicole Denton, Ava Grace Champion and Jada Faith Champion; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were W.J. Measells, Willie Bryant Webb, Wilbur Waggoner, Milton “Junior” Stewart, Kenny Ray Jackson, Hugh Flemming, Bob Alford, Billy McCurdy and Bro. Roy Stewart. Honorary pallbearer was Jimmy Ray Palmer.
