Leonard Andrew Whittington passed away at the VA Hospital Jackson, MS on March 24, 2016. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 26, 2016 from 11am to 12PM at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Burial will be 3pm at the Greer-Whittington Family Cemetery in Ruth, MS.
Leonard was born to the late Everette Shelley Whittington and Alma Tanner Whittington in McKinney, TX. He was the 6th child of 10 children. He lived in Liberty, MS most of his young years. He joined the army in 1947 and served 15 years in Germany. He married his wife, Remona Whittington in 1968. He was a wonderful Husband, Step-Dad, and a wonderful Grandfather to all of his family. He was so loved by all of his family. Leonard had a hobby collecting junk that kept him busy during his retirement years and we affectionately called him our “Junk Man”. Leonard loved hunting and especially loved to hunt for rabbit.
Leonard was preceded in death by his brothers; Shelley Jessie Whittington, Sam Whittington, and Richard Calvin Whittington and by his sisters Sadie Whittington, Etta Whittington Rollinson, Mary Whittington Rollinson, Dorothy Nail Whittington, and Faye Whittington Dunnaway. He is survived by his wife, Remona Whittington; one brother; Marvin Whittington (Frances), four step children; Diane Hart Lambert (James), Richard Hart (Edna), Jenny Hart White, and Deborah Kaye Greer; nine grandchildren; Pamela Diane Porter (Jerry), Michele Lambert Rorie, James JR Lambert (Lane), Alan Dewitt Lambert, Alicia Brock (Donnie), Kenneth Clayton Fuqua, Rick Hart, Michael Hart (Mandy), Stephen Hart (Kim), and Lisa Hart Hempel (Chris); 32 great grandchildren, and 20 great-great grandchildren.
