Alvin Leroy Crisco,87, of Brandon passed away at Wisteria Gardens on Monday, March 29, 2021. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 3:00pm at Brandon Memorial Gardens. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS is handling arrangements.
Leroy was born on November 27, 1933 in the Dentville community in Copiah County. He graduated from Hazlehurst High School in 1951 and from Mississippi State in 1955 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was a proud member of Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society and was a Professional Engineer. After a short time with the Mississippi Highway Dept, he joined Knowles Material Co in Jackson. He returned to the now Mississippi Dept of Transportation in 1987 and was still employed there in the Construction division at the time of his death.
Leroy was a past Grand Master of Tyrian Lodge# 427. He recently received his 65 year pin. In his younger days, he was an avid and talented bowler and golfer. Leroy loved watching all sports on TV, particularly golf and was a devoted fan of Phil Mickelson. He was a member of Dentville Christian Church.
Leroy was preceded in death by his beloved wife Martha Faye Stringer Crisco in 2003. It was a loss he never truly recovered from. They had been married for 47 years at the time of her death. Also preceding him in death were his parents Alvin Leroy Crisco Sr and Linnie Hughes Crisco, his brother Maxie Joe Crisco, his sisters Kathleen Crisco and Hazel Pigott, and his much loved in-laws Charles and Bessie Stringer.
He delighted in and is survived by his three daughters, Alison Orr (Joey) of Brandon, Leanne Darden (George) of Melissa, Texas and Lynn Coor (Kevin) of Frisco, Texas; six grandchildren, Katie Nelson (Joe), Joseph Orr, John Randall Darden (Mallory), Elizabeth Bhattacharya (Alex), Mary Martha Darden, and Cale Coor; a great-grandson Pierce Darden and three great-granddaughters Clara, Amelia, and Abigail Nelson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Batson Children’s Hospital.
