Leroy Holmes

Leroy Holmes, 91, of Pearl, Mississippi, passed away at his home on December 18, 2024. He was born on December 23, 1932, to C. N. Holmes and Bessie Gordon Wilkinson in McComb, Mississippi. Leroy was a faithful and dedicated member of Park Place Baptist Church in Brandon, Mississippi. His greatest joys in life were his family and traveling. He and his wife, Jean, loved traveling with their children and grandchildren to the beach and mountains. Leroy retired from the Hinds County Tax Collector’s Office in Jackson, Mississippi. He was a dedicated employee and friend for over 30 years.

Mr. Holmes is survived by one daughter, Debbie Holmes Hunt (Charles); one son, Steven Lewis Holmes (Rhonda); 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and one brother, Gene Homes (Lois) of Manchester, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Jean Lewis Holmes; one daughter, Cynthia Holmes Horton; and one son-in-law, Donald Horton.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 10:00 am in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Jared Atkinson, Colby Horton, Andy Horton (grandsons), Charles Hunt, and Ryan Graham.
