Lesa Karen Futrell, 45, passed away Monday, February 21, 2011 at her residence. Visitation is 5-8 pm Wednesday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Services are 10 am Thursday at the funeral home with a 4 pm graveside at Gayla Traina Cemetery in Jonesboro, Louisiana.
Lesa was a native of Mississippi, but had lived most of her life in Louisiana until the past ten years. She was Baptist. Lesa had been employed as a Forensic Scientist for the Mississippi State Crime Lab and the Louisiana State Crime Lab. She was a Black Belt in Karate, loving to compete and was once fourth in the nation. Lesa also enjoyed teaching children in Karate.
She loved the outdoors where she enjoyed competing in tennis, riding motorcycles and being surrounded by nature. Lesa expressed that love for nature by being a very talented photographer, taking picture of animals and all of God’s nature that surrounded her.
Her step son, Chris Futrell and step daughter, Stephanie Futrell, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Aubrey Futrell of Brandon; step daughter, Amanda Fortenberry (Len) of Tupelo; parents, John and Margaret Orman of Brandon; brother, Grayson Orman (Karen); grandson, Carter Fortenberry of Tupelo; her loving sister in law, Gretta McCullin and friends who are more like sisters, Lissa Tucker and Carol Karr.
Pallbearers are Wayne Borders, Jim Churchman, Adam Becnel, Julio Godreau, Steve Byrd and Starks Hathock. Honorary pallbearers are
Kim Yates and Stacey Barrett.
