Funeral services for Mrs. Letha C. Carpenter will be conducted Friday afternoon, July 17, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Forest. Private interment will follow in the Eastern Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home.
Dr. Sonny Adkins will officiate. The eulogy will be delivered by Mr. George Taylor. Music will be provided by Mrs. Natalie Emmons.
Visitation will be on Friday, beginning at 10:00 A.M. and continue until 1:45 P.M. prior to the funeral service.
Mrs. Carpenter was born May 28, 1921 in Magee, Simpson County, to her parents, the late Ance and Dora Jones Cole. She passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at the MS Care Center of Morton at the age of 94.
A lifelong resident of this area, Mrs. Carpenter was a member of the Forest Baptist Church. She was a volunteer at the Lackey Convalescent Home. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Lackey Hospital and also a member of the Forest Garden Club. As a member of the Red Hat Society, it is essential to note that “red” was her favorite color.
Mrs. Letha is preceded in death by her husband: Douglas “Festus” Carpenter; her parents; and her siblings: Pearl Burns, Lena Chandler, and Bill Cole.
She is survived by special God children: David and Sandy Tadlock of Forest; and special God grandchildren: Greggina Tadlock Brown and her husband, Kevin of Brandon and Char’Lesa Tadlock of Forest; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers for the service will be Lynn Torrence, Greg Young, Marcus Gray, Todd Burns, Noble Lee, and David Tadlock.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Burns, Thomas Burns, and Anthony Thornton.
In lieu of flowers, at Mrs. Letha’s request, memorial donations may be made to the Forest Baptist Church, 337 E. First St., Forest, MS 39074.
The family wishes to express since appreciation to Dr. John Paul Lee for his care and concern over the years, as well as Bee Hive Homes, Lackey Convalescent Center, and the MS Care Center of Morton for the professional and personal care that was provided to their loved one.
