Linda Brantley, age 74 and a resident of Jackson, formerly of Forest, died Monday, June 3, 2019, at the St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.
Graveside services were held at 10 am Thursday, June 6, 2019, at the Mississippi Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Newton. Rev. Brian Shufelt officiated. A Celebration of Life was held at 1 pm at Hillcrest Church in Forest.
Linda was born in Walnut Grove on Wednesday, November 1, 1944. Linda graduated from Mississippi College in 1966 and attended Columbia Teachers College in New York City during the summer of 1966. She also attended Florida State while studying completing her music studies. She later married Dan Brantley on October 7, 1967, in Forest, MS. Linda was a faithful, loving wife and mother, grandmother, and a woman of great faith. Linda served as pianist for many area churches over the years and was currently serving as pianist for Riverside Church in Flowood. As an accomplished musician, she also taught piano, composed several children’s musicals as well as wrote many songs. She was a people person, loving and always compassionate to those in need. Linda loved people, especially her family and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
She was preceded in death by her father M.O. Wright, Jr. who died while serving in the U.S. Army in Germany during WWII and her mother Grace Dennis Wright Huff Jones who died October 7, 2013.
Survivors include her husband of almost 52 years, Dan Brantley, 3 daughters; Jennifer Hand (David) of Nashville, TN, Danielle Brantley of Jackson, MS and Lydia Kluksdahl (Eric) also of Jackson, MS. Linda also leaves behind a legacy of 8 grandchildren; Lyric, Gracelyn, Melody, Eden, Solomon, Lazarus Kluksdahl and Hannah & Ava Brantley all of Jackson, MS.
Pallbearers were Scott Dennis, Eric Kluksdahl, Brian Shufelt and Tom Brantley. Linda also leaves behind a host of friends.
Services were provided by Ott & Lee Funeral Home of Forest.
