Lindsey Ray Hughes, born October 2, 1932. Died August 20, 2013

Ray Hughes went to be with his Savior after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ray grew up in Terry, MS. Upon graduation from high school, he entered the military and served during the Korean War conflict. Upon leaving the military, Ray worked for MISSCO as a supervisor in the printing department for 37 years until his retirement in 1996. He was a long-time resident of Pearl and the CrossRoads community. He enjoyed baseball, horses, gardening, the Mississippi State Bulldogs, the Atlanta Braves, watching old westerns, and spending time with his family. He is a former deacon at CrossRoads Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Ina Hughes, and brother Earl Edmond.

Ray is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jackie; son, Terry Hughes (Anna) of Brandon; daughter Penny (Kenny) Keen of Pelahatchie; sister, Catherine Aldridge of Junction City, OR; brothers Arvil (Gloria) Hughes of Mobile, AL, Billy (Joyce) Hughes of Brookhaven;. Grandchildren, Megan (John) Guess, Corey (Lindsay) Hughes, Darby Hughes, Dustin Keen, Kristen (Ty) Tullos,. Great-grandchildren: Amelia Guess, Chloe Guess, Elijah Guess; Jaxsen Hughes, Landyn Hughes, Lexi Hughes, Jayce Tullos, and Kaston Tullos.

Visitation will be at Ott & Lee in Brandon, Wednesday, August 21 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and then at 10 am prior to the service at the church. The funeral will be Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 11:00 am at CrossRoads Baptist Church, Hwy 43, Pelahatchie with interment in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers are: John Everett, Lynn Everett, John Guess, Chad Stewart, Shea Stewart, and Ty Tullos. In lieu of flowers; donations may be made to CrossRoads Baptist Church Building Fund or Hospice Ministries.
