Lisa Richardson

On January 12, 2018, my mother, Lisa Kay Richardson, moved on to a better place in Heaven. Mom was a fighter no doubt. She was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma in July of 2007 and defied all odds and beat it. Though weary from the treatment and side effects she continued to live life, be a servant to others and be an example. In the fall of 2017, she was diagnosed with separate and unrelated primary cancer, breast cancer. Once again, she was ready to fight. She completed ¾ of one of the most brutal chemo regimens that is out there. Surrounded by her friends and family, she fought hard. Her legacy as a fighter, example, and inspiration will live on through myself and the many others she touched.

My mother served as the foundation of who I am and what I have become. She taught me how to respect and love, and with that, I have been blessed with a wonderful marriage to Emily for over 10 years. My mother also instilled in me traits and characteristics that I would value until later in life:

You see, her legacy will exist in these traits. All too often try to leave a legacy in position or money. I have been blessed to have diplomas and credentials, which are all just pieces of paper to me. The above traits are what I want people to remember in me, just as I, and others, remember about Mom.

Thank you to all those who have been there for me, my family and mom over the years and now.

Rejoice in the fact that she has now truly beat cancer. Reflect on the good memories and may you find something from your time with her that helps shape your legacy. If you know someone with cancer fight for them and with them.

Lisa was born on December 30, 1959 in Kilgore, TX. She remained in the east Texas area all of her life.  She was a long-standing member of Longview Missionary Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, father Frank Cashon and mother Norma Prichard, and also her husband, James Richardson.

She is survived by her son Jordan Johnson and his wife, Emily, sister Cindy Blair and her husband, Bud, nephew Joshua Blair and his wife, Latisha, three step children Paula Harp and her husband, Chris, Pam Paul and her husband, Adam, and Robert Richardson, 7 grand children and two grand dogs, Gunner and Sophie.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
