MATTIE LODENA WAGGONER, age 94, a resident of Forest died Thursday January 16, 2014 following a short illness.
Funeral services were conducted at 10am Saturday January18, 2014 from the chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home of Forest, with interment in the Clifton Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5pm-8pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home. Rev. Sonny Adkins officiated.
Mrs. Waggoner was born on January 1, 1920 in Scott County to her parents, William H. Waggoner and Lydia Roland Waggoner. After graduating from college, she taught Home Economics in several area schools until her retirement from Perry County Schools. She was a faithful member of Forest Baptist Church. She enjoyed her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her late husband, Buford E. Waggoner.
Survivors include 3 children: Charles A. Waggoner (Paula) of Starkville, Janie Waggoner of Meridian and James (Louise) of Petal. She is also survived by 3 sisters: Gladys Welch of Grand Prairie, TX; Novelene Brewer of Austell, GA; Retha Buis of Lincoln, NE and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Billy Sigrest, Richard Brewer, Brad Sigrest, Hugh Bland, Ricky Harvey and John Milner. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Goodwin, Gary Risher and Paul Simmons.
