Lonnie Lee Meadows, Sr., 73, a resident of Morton died Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Infinity Hospice in Marion, MS. Funeral services were held 4 pm Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Visitation was held 9am-4pm Saturday at the funeral home. Rev. Sid Stewart officiated the services. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Meadows was a native of Rankin Co. He was the son of Sylvester Stevens Meadows and Gladys Taylor Meadows Sumrall. He was married to Rosie Maxine Reed Meadows. He was a member of Holmes Assembly of God where he served as Deacon, a Sunday school teacher and helped with the Roy Rangers many years. He served as a heavy equipment operator for BFI over 30 years. He loved his family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Mr. Meadows was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester Stevens Meadows and Gladys Taylor Meadows Sumrall, sons, Sylvester Stevens Meadows and Richard Henry Meadows, granddaughter, Becky Meadows and his 6 siblings.
Mr. Meadows is survived by his wife, Rosie Maxine Meadows of Morton; his children, Lonnie Meadows, Jr., Twylene (Tommy) Holmes and Tim Meadows all of Morton; sister, Ruth Millings of Pelahatchie; brother, J.C. Meadows of Brandon; 3 grandchildren, Bryan Holmes of Morton, Thomas Holmes of Morton and Brittney Fleming Meadows of PA; 2 great grandchildren, Danielle Fleming and Savanna Fleming both of PA; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
