Mrs. Lora Lynn Lewis, age 82, and longtime resident of Forest, passed away on New Year's Day, 2022 under the professional care of the staff and directors at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg.
Mrs. Lewis was a longtime member of the Harperville United Methodist Church until its closure and then became affiliated with the Forest United Methodist Church. She was a retired Director with the Mississippi Housing Authority in Forest. She was an avid gardener and loved flowers, from tending to her flower beds, to providing floral arrangements for the enjoyment of others. Mrs. Lewis will be remembered for the love that she had for her grandchildren and for her strong-willed determination, that complimented her Southern sarcasm.
She is preceded in death by her two husbands: Dewey Parker and Murphy L. Lewis; three daughters: Teresa Barranco, Connie Mixon, and Robin Lewis; her parents: Thurman and Vashti Underwood Parkes; two brothers: Nicky Parkes and Keith Parkes, and one sister: Martha Graham.
Survivors include one son: Jesse Parker; one daughter-in-law: Sarah Parker; one son-in-law: Johnny Barranco; four grandchildren: Mary Margaret Parker, Will Parker, Nikki Barranco, and Frankie Barranco Holleman; three great-grandchildren; one sister: Nancy Hollingsworth and several nieces and nephews.
