Lorie Ann Rast, 53 went to be with her Lord on Monday, March 7, 2016 at her home in Florence, MS.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 5 – 8 pm at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. and Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 1 pm until the 2 pm Service at Bethel Baptist Church in Brandon. Burial will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Lorie Ann Sherman was born on January 2, 1963 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to the late John Burnette Sherman and Willa Dean Brown Sherman. She was a graduate of Warren Central High School. She had been a resident of Rankin County, MS since 2004 and was a former resident of North Jackson. She married Chris Rast in 2008. She was a Juvenile Detention Office with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department. She was a Christian who loved God and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she was Sunday School Secretary.
Lorie Ann Rast lived a life full of excitement and adventure. Whether she was taking a motorcycle ride to the Gulf Coast with her husband, or going shopping with her daughters. She was an avid animal lover and had six dogs, Ann, Max, Bella, C.G., Gracie, and Josey; one cat, Jewels; one turtle, J. T.; and six horses.
Lorie was a person who thought positively regardless of the situation. The truest fighter you would ever meet. She loved fiercely and lived joyously. She always had a smile on her face.
Survivors include her husband, Chris Rast of Florence; her mother, Willa Dean Smith of Vicksburg, MS; three daughters, Ashley Elliott (Stuart) of Pearl, MS, Asha Chatlani of Brandon, MS, and Sarah Grace Rast of Iuka, MS; two sisters, Susan Wilson (Todd) and Sherry Page both of Vicksburg, MS; and three nieces, Paula Kelly of Vicksburg, Jessica Arnold (Tommy) of Natchez, MS, and Taylor Hall of Vicksburg, MS; and a host of friends.
