Mr. Louis Edward Bennett

Louis Edward Bennett, age 89, passed from death unto eternal life on December 30, 2010, at Bedford Care Center in Newton. Funeral services were held on Sunday, January 2, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Rev. Daniel Herring and Dr. Jim Everett officiated the services. Visitation was held from 12:00 noon-1:45 P.M. prior to the service. Burial was in the Ludlow Cemetery.
Mr. Bennett was born in the Ludlow Community of Scott County on January 4, 1921, to Gordon and Mary Weems Bennett. Mr. Bennett faithfully served his country during World War II and the Korean conflict. He was retired from Western Union and the State of Mississippi. Mr. Bennett lived in Jackson for many years and later moved to Brandon where he was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was an avid history buff, clock collector, and retired cattle farmer.
Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Etoile Sessums Bennett; his parents; sister, Dorothy Ware and brother Guy Bennett. He is survived by his nieces, Gaye Bennett Hunt and husband, Earl of Madison, Joyce Robinson Everett and husband, Billy of Forest, Carol Sessums Lowrey and husband, Buddy of Oxford; nephews, David Sessums of Vicksburg and Gary Sessums of Virginia; sisters-in-law, Betty Bennett of Madison, Frankie Sessums of Forest and Lucille Sessums of Vicksburg and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Frank Bailey, Billy Everett, Micah Everett, Earl Hunt, Mitchell Marshall, David Sessums and Trent Smith.
The family would like to thank Trent and Pepper Smith and Mr. Bennett’s sitters for their dedication to “Uncle Ed” during the past several years. The family request that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church of Brandon or The Gideon’s International or the Ludlow Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
