Louise Richie Rogers, of Brandon, passed away on July 16, 2011 at Crossgates River Oaks Hospital from complications of a stroke. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 19, at 9 am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. The funeral service will be at 11am in the Ott & Lee Chapel. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson.
Louise was born on October 29, 1924 in Deemer, MS to Mary Hardin and O.C. Richie. Mrs. Rogers was a 1942 graduate of Morton High School and a 1944 graduate of East Central Junior College. Louise married William Robert Rogers II, also of Morton, MS, on May 14, 1949, after his return from the European theater of World War II. William and Louise spent the next twenty-seven years traveling with Mr. Rogers’ military career, primarily in the southeastern United States and the Pacific. Upon his retirement in 1976, after 30 years of military service, they settled in Brandon, MS. Mr. Rogers preceded her in death in 2006.
She is survived by her son, William Robert Rogers III, of Brandon, MS and daughter, Mary Jane Rogers (Stephen), of Atlanta, GA, grandchildren Clayton Ian Rogers of King George, VA, William Glore Rogers and Stephanie Laura Rogers of Atlanta, GA , her brother, Joe C. Richie (Jean) of Demopolis, AL, sisters-in-law Mrs. Eloise Thornton of Brandon MS and Mrs. Ruth Richie of Pensacola, FL, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to acknowledge the professional staffs of the River Oaks Hospitals (Crossgates and Flowood), Odyssey Hospice, Brandon Court Rehabilitation Center, and Emeritus-Heritage House for their excellent care, the love and support of her friends at The Lakeland Courthouse, and the staff and congregation of Park Place Baptist Church.
