Louise T. Whitehead Sadie Louise Turner Whitehead, a resident of Brandon, Mississippi, died October 27, 2014, at Crossgates River Oaks Hospital after a brief illness. Ott and Lee Funeral Home of Brandon is in charge of arrangements, with visitation scheduled for Wednesday, October 29, from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday at New Bethlehem Community Cemetery, Hwy 541 North, between Magee and Martinville. Mrs. Whitehead was the widow of Billy C. Whitehead. She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Bob) Warren of Magee and Peggy (Jim) Willoughby of Brandon; three grandsons, Chuck McLain of Magee, Danny McLain of Monticello and James Willoughby of Brandon; nine great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; her sister, Mrs. Loraine T. Vest of Commerce, Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews and a grand-cat, Mac. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents, Wade H. and Ida P. Turner; her siblings, George M. Turner, Modena Phillips, Bonnie Little, Elizabeth Smith and Catherine Nichols. A native of Magee, Mrs. Whitehead was the great granddaughter of Richard Farthing, one of Magee’s original settlers, and the niece of Miss Maude Turner, Magee’s first librarian. In 1947, she began her career at Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company as a long distance operator. She retired from AT&T 34 years later. She was a Methodist and a member of Brandon First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson, MS.
