A Celebration of the life of Lowell Thomas Merritt will be at the Ott and Lee Funeral Home (Brandon) on Wednesday May 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive guests on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Lowell was born on April 14, 1932 in Corbin, Kentucky. He went to his heavenly reward on May 12, 2013.
Lowell loved the Lord and devoted his life in serving him and leading his family to do the same. He was an active member of the Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene and served in numerous capacities through the years including treasurer, board member, Sunday school teacher and generally wherever he was needed. He also served as a Gideon.
He was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Jean for 58 years. His family was his first priority after his love for God.
Lowell retired from Western Union Telegraph Service in 1978. He then retired from Lampton Love after more than 10 years of service.
Survivors include wife, Jean Merritt, daughter, Jan Davis(Donnie); son, Keith Merritt( Cheryl); daughter, Lisa Harris(Curtis); granddaughters, Lindsay D. Palmer ( Richard), Tracy M. Williams (Adam), Jamie Merritt, Jordan and Savannah Harris; grandsons Dustin Merritt( Amy), and Chandler Harris. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren as well as one who will arrive in August. He was also survived by his brother, Bill Merritt(Sue), of Cincinnati, OH, sister, Carol Richardson(Glen) of Kings Mills, OH, as well as a large extended family.
The family would like to thank all those who have assisted in his care, specifically John and JoAnn.
