Loy “Willard” Nations, 83, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012 at River Oaks Hospital, surrounded by his family and friends. Visitation is 2-5 pm Sunday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Services are 10 am Monday at the funeral home with interment in Oakdale Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements will be by Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon.
Willard was born November 25, 1928 in the Bridgeport Community of Simpson County to the late Conway and Alice Nations.
Willard was an active member of Oakdale Baptist Church. He was an active member of the World renowned Sunday School Class known as the “Misfits.” Willard served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of IBEW local #480.
Following retirement in 1990, Willard enjoyed gardening and caring for all God’s creatures surrounding his home. He was fulfilled relaxing in his easy chair with either one of his three puppies, BB, Jack or Abby.
Willard in survived by his wife Estelle; son, Loy Jr. (Linda); daughters, Cheryl (Kyle) and Karen (Lynn); eight grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren; sister, Madie Griffith.
The Nations family would like to express their appreciation, love and support of the Oakdale Baptist Church “Family” and the staff and Drs. at River Oaks Hospital.
Memorials may be made to the Oakdale Baptist Church Building Fund or Hope Berry’s (granddaughter) Charity Kick Out Cancer for the Blair Batson Children’s Hospital.
