Luther “Luke” Hemby, age 86, a resident of Brandon, MS passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Simpson General Hospital in Mendenhall, MS. Visitation will start at 12 Noon until 2 PM Saturday, May 4th, 2024, at Meadow Grove Baptist Church in Brandon, MS with the funeral service to follow at 2 PM. Interment will be held in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery following the funeral service.

 Mr. Hemby was born on July 17, 1937, a native of Simpson County, MS. He was the proud son of two hard-working farmers, John Bura Hemby and Edna Blair Hemby. He spent most of his childhood helping his family in the fields, and graduated from Pinola High School in 1958. He married the love of his life at the young age of 22 years old, and they had a long and happy marriage for 64 years. For 25 years, he worked for Trailways Transportation System and drove over one million miles throughout the United States. After retiring from Trailways, he opened Brandon Discount Tire along with his son, Mike. He was a member of Meadow Grove Baptist Church in Brandon, MS. Mr. Hemby enjoyed fishing, taking road trips with his beloved wife and closest friends, catching up over a cup of hot coffee, and especially spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

 Mr. Hemby was preceded in death by his parents, John Bura Hemby and Edna Blair Hemby, his brother, Jerry Hershell “Hut” Hemby, and his wife Bonnie Rose Williamson Hemby.

Mr. Hemby is survived by his children, Mike (Jody) Hemby and Tammy (Jon) Tucker; sisters, Shirley Emory and Peggy Sullivan; grandchildren, Jessica (Kyle) Mangano, Kayla (Dusty) Wicker, Austin (Cassidy) Tucker, Jake Tucker and Josh (Jennifer) Belt; great grandchildren, McKenzie and Brinkley Belt, and Sawyer Wicker.

 The family of Mr. Hemby would like to thank the caring staff at Simpson General Hospital for taking care of Mr. Hemby during his final days.
