Mae Deene Hales Easterling was born in Smith County on August 17, 1933 and passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson at the age of 83.
She was a retired line supervisor at Peavey Electronics in Morton and a longtime resident of Polkville. Her relationship to her family was of top priority to Mrs. Mae Deene, as often she would “brag on her children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren” every time she could. In recent years she especially enjoyed "being pampered" by her great-granddaughters. She will be remembered as a woman who loved life and lived it to the fullest. One who loved being a conversationalist; she was blessed to have a “world of friends,” as she never met a stranger. Her expertise in the kitchen will be remembered for generations to come, as one grandson stated: “there will never be another biscuit made like hers,” as cooking was a favorite past time in days gone by, as was flower gardening. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Polkville, where she enjoyed the company of her church family whom she loved very much.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Lloyd Easterling; her parents: Luther and Ruby Traxler Hales; one granddaughter: Andrea Easterling; two brothers: Merl Hales and Lavon Hales; and two sisters: Sally Chandler and Mary Parsons.
Survivors include her three children: Brenda Bradshaw Pace of Polkville; Jimmy Paul Easterling of Kalem; and Rita Easterling of Polkville; four grandchildren: Sonia Crain, Greg Bradshaw, Jimmy Paul Easterling, Jr., and Brianna Easterling; five great-grandchildren: Justin, Jada, and Brooklyn Crain, Luke Bradshaw and Taylor Turman; one brother: Timothy Hales of Polkville; numerous nieces and nephews and a world of friends.
First Baptist Church of Polkville is located at 6640 Hwy. 13, Morton, MS 39117.
