Malcolm Thomas “Tommy” James, 60, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012 at St. Dominic Hospital In Jackson after a courageous fight with cancer. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00pm Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Puckett Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 8:00pm Monday, April 23, 2012 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon and from 1:00pm until 2:00pm Tuesday at Puckett Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Puckett Cemetery.
Tommy was a graduate of Mississippi State University where he received his degree in Landscape Architecture. After receiving his degree, he received many awards and honors for his designs in landscape architecture. He worked for the Mississippi Development Authority until his recent illness. He was a member of Puckett Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and son. He loved being outside and enjoyed nature. He had a love for growing blueberries and muscadines. He had a 1960 Chevrolet Biscayne antique car that he loved restoring with his friends. He loved collecting guitars as well.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Edgar James and Maurine Cook James; and his brother Edgar Jerome James.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mary Carol James; his daughter, Jennifer Allison James; devoted pet and friend, Patches; sister-in-law, Susan James; and two nephews, Jonathan James and Christopher James.
