Malcolm Lansford Stone

Malcolm Lansford Stone, born on August 11, 1934, in Fulton, MS, passed away on August 17, 2024 in Brandon, MS. He dedicated 26 years of his life to the State of Mississippi Tax Commission as an electrical engineer and served as a Rankin County Deputy Sheriff for many years. He was a charter member of Brandon Baptist Church. 

Malcolm enjoyed being a ham radio operator from 1956 until 2021 and shared a passion for quilting with his wife, Nita. Together, they made over 500 quilts using a long arm quilting machine. He took pride in organizing the sound system at Brandon Baptist Church, where he ran the sound booth for over a decade. His love for cars led him to restore Ford Mustangs and become a licensed car judge.

Malcolm is survived by his wife of 67 years, Nita Stone; son, Thomas Earl Stone; daughter, Deborah Jean Stone Weinstein and her husband Craig; grandson, Matthew Lee Parks and his wife Emily; Michelle Whitley Parks Abernathy and her husband Michael;  great-grandchildren, Isla Claire Abernathy, James Matthew Parks and William Thomas Abernathy; and sister-in-law, Syble Ann Stegall Ernest.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Bunyan Stone; mother, Reba Earl Rives Stone; and sister, Addine Stone.

Visitation will be held at Ott & Lee Funeral Homes in Brandon on Monday, August 19, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM and again on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM in the chapel of the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon, MS.
