Marcella Burton, age 82, a resident of Jackson, passed away July 11, 2010 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation will be held 5:30-7pm Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and will resume at 12pm-1pm Wednesday. Funeral services will be held 1pm Wednesday, July 14, 2010 from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Eureka Cemetery on Midway Rd. The Very Rev. Tom Slawson will be officiating the services. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Burton was born in Ludlow MS and grew up in Sandhill. She was a resident of Hinds County for the past 65 years. She enjoyed traveling, painting, dancing and loved to make ceramics. Besides her personal friendships, Marcella loved to be in the serenity of nature and her flowerbeds were proof of that. Her love of gardening will be her seed once sown that will never die. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Preceded in death by her husband, William (Billy) Burton Jr.; parents, George Henry Craig and Lulie Bell Holmes Craig; 3 brothers, J.D. Craig of Jackson, Clayton Gerald (Buddy) Craig of Sandhill and Robbie Gene Craig of Sandhill and 1 sister, Lulie Christine Craig Price of Meridian.
She is survived by 1 nephew, Dr. Carroll G. Price (Ingrid) of Meridian; 3 nieces, Dr. Kara L. Craig of Hattiesburg, Sandra Craig Mangum (Johnny) of Clinton and Lisa Craig Nowell of Orlando, FL; 2 sister-in-laws, Theadeaus Craig of Clinton and Sibyl Craig of Sandhill; a host of great nieces, nephews and many friends.
Pallbearers were Dr. Christopher Price, Michael Cleveland, Jimmy Dale Holmes, Jayson Moak, Joel Moak and Craig Mangum. Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Mangum and Dr. Carroll G. Price.
