Mardis Taylor, Sr.
September 5, 1937 — February 2, 2017
Funeral services for Mr. Mardis James Taylor, Sr. will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 4, 2017 from the Ott & Lee Chapel with Bro. James McMillan officiating. Interment will be in the Dennis Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am – 1:45 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
Mardis James Taylor, Sr. was born in the Mississippi Delta on Sunday, September 5, 1937 and passed away at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the age of 79.
A resident of Lake for the past 60 years, he was the owner of Taylor Auto Sales at Lake, and was a member of the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association and the Mississippi Independent Automobile Dealers Association. Hunting, fishing and farming were favorite past times and he will be remembered for the love he had for his family. He was a member of Sand Ridge Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his son: Mardis James “Buckus” Taylor, Jr.; his parents; James Riley and Fannie Chapman Taylor; one sister: Janie Potter; and two brothers: Riley Taylor and Archie Taylor.
Survivors include his wife: Mrs. Betty Taylor of Lake; two children: Lynn (Donnie) Posey and Brian Taylor, both of Lake; one sister: Mary Logan of Tupelo and two brothers: Allen Taylor of Starkville and H.P. Taylor of Crystal Springs; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
