Margaret Torrence May, 86, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2013, at home surrounded by family. Funeral Services are 10am Monday, November 25, 2013, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Visitation will be 5-8pm Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon.

Margaret was born July 4, 1927 to the late William Sidney Torrence and Pearl Smith. She played Basketball for Brandon High School. She married Carroll N. May on June 29, 1946, they moved to Pearl and she operated a Beauty Salon in her home in Pearl until moving back to Brandon in 1985.

She was a member of Pearson Baptist Church where she taught Children’s Sunday School for many years. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed doing crafts. She loved the outdoors and working in her yard. She loved her family and friends and will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Pearl Torrence; husband, Carroll May; daughter, Linda Carol May; sister, Myrtis Baker; brothers, William, Gilbert, J.B. and Oley Torrence.

She is survived by daughter, Lana Bowen and husband, David; numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly and four legged child, Tinkerbell.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Mable Cotton of Merry Heart Personal Care, Hospice Ministries and all the neighbors, friends and family who provided support and prayers during her time of need.

Memorials may be made to Pearson Baptist Church, 151 South Pearson Road, Pearl, MS 39208.
