Margaret Hudspeth Shelton

Margaret Hudspeth Shelton, 98, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, in Columbus, Mississippi. A private committal service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, Mississippi. Margaret was born October 26, 1926, in Electric Mills, Mississippi to Robert Hampton Henderson and Mary Harbour Henderson. She spent most of her life in Jackson and later moved to Brandon. Her most recent few years were spent in Columbus. She retired from the Mississippi Board of Animal Health and was a member of Alta Woods Baptist Church. She loved watching her Mississippi State Bulldogs and enjoyed tending to her flowers, working in the yard, and volunteering at CMMC in Jackson and New Stage Theater.

She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Royce Wayne Hudspeth, Sr.; second husband, G. B. Shelton; son, John Robert Hudspeth; and siblings, Dot Barnes, Durwood Henderson, and Robert Henderson. She leaves behind her children, Royce Hudspeth (Sharon), Bill Hudspeth (Beverly), Tess Hudspeth, and honorary son, Terry Whittington; special nieces, Sharon Madison and Carol Ann Pittman; nephew, Jeff Henderson; grandchildren, Jennifer Hudspeth Murray, Ashley Hudspeth Youngblood, Shea Hudspeth Wilson, John Adam Hudspeth, Katie Hudspeth, Christopher Hudspeth, Robert Sims, Brandy Trebotich Smith, and Bo Trebotich; 10 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
