Mrs. Marie Herrington, a lifelong resident of Newton County, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020, just two days after her 87th birthday at her home at Lawrence surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 am on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Hazel Baptist Church, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 pm. Rev. Victor Bugg and Rev. Sam Taylor will officiate. Interment will follow in the Salem Baptist Cemetery at Lake under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Herrington was a retired employee of the Sara Lee Company and a member of Hazel Baptist Church. She will be remembered as the “rock” of her family, and for the love she had for them. She was an avid gardener; she also enjoyed fishing and leisurely strolls through the countryside.
She is survived by her three children: Debbie (Wendell) Morris of Lawrence; Doyle (Pam) Herrington of Conehatta and Keith (Connie) Herrington of Lake; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sisters: Louise Ogletree of Lake and Barbara (Roger) Harrison of Little Rock; one brother: Danny (Jenny) McGee of Lake; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her husband: Redell Herrington; her parents: Robert Edgar and Elizabeth Brown McGee; three sisters: Evie Zelle McGee, Lavelle Posey, and Lorene Harmon; and one brother: Bud McGee.
Serving as pallbearers will be Shelton Porter, Shane Johnston, Matthew Herrington, Dustin Dipuma, Shannon Harmon and Austin Kyzar.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny McGee, Johnny Posey, Rickey Nowell, Mark Bradshaw, Matt Mitchell, and Wendell Morris.
All floral deliveries may be made to Hazel Baptist Church, 3175 Hwy. 489, Lake, MS 39092.
Ott & Lee Funeral Home, 295 East First St., Forest, MS served the Herrington family.
