Marie McCoy Morton Mrs. Marie McCoy, age 74, a resident of Morton passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at her home. Graveside service was held 1pm Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Pulaski Cemetery. Bro. Paul Smith and Bro. Ricky Watkins officated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Mrs. McCoy was born in Scott County on October 5, 1941. She loved to crochet afghans, especially for her family. Marie loved to quilt and garden. She enjoyed tending to her chickens. Marie loved her family very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, A.G. Morehead and Nettie Mae Phillips Morehead; 2 daughters, Sandra Kay Sellers and Cathy Jo Fitzhugh; 1 great grandchild, Reggie Merchant; sister, Daisy Bell Winters; brother, Albert Morehead; 2 son-in-laws, Oscar Fortenberry and Reggie Merchant. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, William Edward McCoy of Morton; 4 children, Patricia Marie Tadlock (Paul) of Lake, Amy Lee Merchant of Morton, Carol McCoy Fortenberry of Morton and Glen Edward McCoy (Lisa) of Pelahatchie; 2 sisters, Ruby Jewel Gamble of Florida and Roselie Slay of Brandon; 12 grandchildren, Lee Sellers (Leslie), Christina Putnam, Braden Fitzhugh, Laura Marie Wilson (Jacob), Paula Elizabeth Jackson (James), Lance Merchant (Heleena), Candace Holmes (Joey), Joshua William Merchant (Dru), John Mikel Merchant, Kira Danielle Watkins (Eric), Whitney McCoy and Kristen McCoy; 21 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ernest Winters of Gulfport; son-in-law, Leslie Fitzhugh of Ludlow; a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers were Lee Sellers, Josh Merchant, John Mikel Merchant, Braden Fitzhugh, Eric Watkins, Jake Wilson, James Jackson and Joey Holmes. Memorials may be made in her name to the Salvation Army.
