Born November 2, 1949, and raised in Rolling Fork, Mississippi, Marion received her baccalaureate degree from Millsaps College. For many years, she owned the Riverboat Shop in Deposit Guaranty Plaza, which often served as a contact point for many friends and provided part time jobs for numbers of Millsaps students working their way through school. Marion was a kind and thoughtful friend, generous with her time and resources. She loved her family above all things.
Marion’s life was one of tremendous challenge and enormous struggle. The sole survivor of her generation, she would not survive the suffering wished upon her by the disease that so devastated her family. She endured years and years of increasing personal devastation. Through all of it, she continued to love her friends and family, to appreciate one more day. She struggled and endured until finally mercy found and released her. She will now live on in our memory and walk in the corridors of our dreams, always loved.
Marion is preceded in death by her parents Martha Cortright Humer and Wallace Allen Chase and her brothers Cauley Cortright Chase and Wallace Allen Chase. She is survived by her daughter Stacy Hathcock Therrell (Steve) and her son Christopher Allen Martin (Lara) and six grandchildren, Chase and Jordan Therrell, Jack, Livvie, and Jace Martin, Victor Villarreal and one nephew, Cauley Chase. She is also survived by numerous cousins.
Additionally, Marion’s family would like to thank Sta-Home Health & Hospice – specifically, Casey Hill, Kristen Deason, Daniel Blaylock, Jennifer Ashley, Becky Akers, and Shelly Pepper for the wonderful care you provided. We would also like to thank her faithful caregivers, Janet Collier, Lenora Dixon, Latoya Epting, Britney Henry, Annie Smith, and Sherry Wallace for their unconditional love and gentle, caring support.
