MARK JONES RISHER
Pelahatchie, MS
On Saturday afternoon, August 5th, 2023, Mark Jones Risher, loving husband, father, grandfather of five, and great friend to many, passed away at his home in Pelahatchie at the age of 68. Mark had battled numerous health problems for many years. He was born on 06/01/1955 in Scott County to Jewel and Buford Risher. Mark graduated from Pearl High School, class of 1973. Mark was a Christian man that loved the Lord and had a big heart.
Mark is preceeded in death by his parents, his brothers Mike and Reggie Risher; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Linda Sue and Larry Keeton. He is survived by his wife Rhenae Keeton Risher, whom he adored and stood by his side through all his health issues. He is survived by his five children; Brad(Brandi) Risher, Adam(Tori) Risher, Guy(Hollis) Sledge, Kimberly Sledge, and Ashlea Sledge. He took pride in his all children and the accomplishments they’ve made in their lives.
He also loved his grandchildren immensely, Hunter, Dawson, Aubrey, Kennedy and Kane.
Mark is also survived by his sister Pat Weathersby, Amanda(Alvin) Willey & Miklayla, sister-in law Monya Risher, and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and wonderful friends.
Mark had been a self-employed over the road truck driver his entire life, until his health wouldn’t let him drive. He missed being a truck driver. When his children Brad and Adam, were young, they would go with him and see the United States. This was always something he was proud to have been able to have done with them. He had wanted to travel and show Rhenae all the places he had been, but his health wouldn’t allow it. He was a human GPS. He could tell you how many miles between one place to the other, do the addition in his head, and tell you the best place to eat on the way.
He loved to go fishing and was always looking for someone to go with him. Before his health stopped him, He and Rhenae would ride the wagon train with the Smith County Dixie National Wagon Train. They would spend 8 days with their Martinsville family, having a big time. In the last several years Mark and Rhenae enjoyed going to Cruising the Coast. He had numerous vehicles over the years and was in the process of restoring a 55 Chevy with help from his son Guy and friend Dewitt. He loved reconnecting with his Florence and Pearl friends. 10 days of fun. Camping with the grands and niece, was something that he also loved. Mark never met a stranger and loved joking and carrying on with everyone, especially nurses and waitresses.
