Marshall Bernell Windham, age 85, a resident of Clinton, died Tuesday December 22, 2015 at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Jackson following a prolonged illness.
Visitation will be held from 11am to 12 noon Monday December 28, 2015 at Ott & Lee Funeral home in Forest, MS. Funeral services will be conducted at Noon following the visitation in the chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home with graveside services to follow at the Homewood Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Mickey Bell of Florence, AL will officiate.
Bernell was born in Homewood to his parents John Elmer Windham and Esther Bruce Windham on April 26, 1930. He married Anne Smith from Harperville on May 22, 1955. He graduated from Mississippi College in 1959 with a bachelors in business administration. He was employed by Seale-Lily Ice Cream Company and retired from Borden’s Ice Cream Company. He was a cattle farmer in Scott County for over forty years and was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Clinton. He Loved his family and loved spending time with them. He also loved his extended family and friends.
Bernell is survived by Anne, his wife of 60 years; their two children Craig Windham of Clinton and Cathy Windham Kitchens and her husband Mark of Charlotte, NC; a sister Opal Windham Kirstead of Gretna, LA, and brothers John B. Windham of Metarire, LA and Steven Windham of Sebastopol, MS. He is also survived by his granddaughter Kirsten Johanna Kitchens of Charlotte, NC.
Pallbearers are Mark Kitchens, Chris Windham, Sam Tadlock, Bruce Johns, Paul Windham and Mike Wicker.
