Martha Elizabeth Alford, age 103, a lifelong resident of the Homewood community, died peacefully surrounded by family Sunday April 26, 2015 at Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Tuesday April 28, 2015 from the Homewood United Methodist Church with interment in the Homewood Methodist Cemetery. Rev. Milton Koon
And Rev. Jerry Barnes will officiate.
Mrs. Alford was born in Scott County to her parents William Clifton Pryor and Mattie Moore Pryor on September 2, 1911. She was a longtime member of Homewood United Methodist Church. She was a housewife ,loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed gardening and loved flowers. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son; James William Alford , a daughter Bettye A. Risher and her husband Robert Lavern Alford.
Survivors include five children; Gwen A. Lindsey of Brandon, Bobby L. Alford (Nancy) of Monticello, Kenny Alford (Keitha) of Ashville, NC. Janice A. Burt of Forest and James Allen Alford (Sherrie) of Chattanooga, TN. She also leaves behind a legacy of 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Dan Risher, Linda Lindsey Harmon, Steve Risher, Randy Lindsey, Denise Alford Weeks, Gary Lindsey, Dianne Alford Mitchell, Melissa Burt Bell, Robert Alford, Chris Burt, Brian Lindsey, Woody Burt, Kristen Alford Haigler, Bret Alford, Kendra Alford Wengerd, Kyle Alford and Chris Anderson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Homewood United Methodist Church 8720 Hwy 35 South Forest, MS 39074.
