Martha Earnest Smith, 81, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation is 11 am Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Boones Chapel Methodist Church in Chickasaw County. Services are 1 pm Thursday at the church with burial in Macedonia Cemetery. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon is handling arrangements.
Mrs. Smith was a native and lifelong resident of Chickasaw County and has lived in Rankin County for the past two years. She was a member of Boones Chapel Methodist Church and had worked for many years as a seamstress. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Smith; son, Garland Lane Smith; parents, Walter and Lavonia Earnest and brother, Walter Earnest, Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda List (Phil) of Brandon; son, Robert Dale Smith of Okolona; sister, Lonnie Webster of Ecru; grandchildren, Kim Holloway (Shane), Andi Cruthirds (Andy), Jonathan Chappell (Jennifer), Lesia Ervin (Gary), Teresa Brewer (Don), Chase Criswell and Jeremy Smith. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
