Mary Edith Bell, 79, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at her son’s home in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be 4pm – 7pm Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Services are 2pm Sunday, October 16, 2016, in the chapel of Ott & Lee. Interment will follow in Clifton Cemetery in Scott County.


Mrs. Bell was born in Lexington, MS on March 6, 1937, to Frank James Collyer and Mary Madgeline Ferrill Collyer. She was a very selfless and patient individual. She sacrificed things for her own self to provide for her children and family.

Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things”. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)


Survivors include her 4 daughters, Sharon Denise Jones, Sheila Darlene Alford, Linda Kay Bell and Brenda Gay Butler (John); son, Carl Jason Bell (Michelle); 2 brothers, James and Billy Collyer; grandchildren, Christi Leigh Rice, Thomas G. Alford, III, Jennifer Nicole Smith, Trevor Burch, Jeremy McDill, Bryana Luke, Tyler Jason Bell, Blake Austin Bell, Makayla Drewe Bell and Jon Michael Arnold; and great grandchildren, Presley Chevelle Alford, Maddie Luke, Cole McDill, Braiden Harrell and Seth Ian. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl Norman Bell; son-in-law, Rodney Allen Jones; and great granddaughter, Chloe Denise.
