January 14, 1932 – May 22, 2018

Mary Elizabeth McRae Bennett, 86, of Brandon died peacefully on May 22, 2018 at Hospice Ministries after a sudden illness. Mary was born on January 14, 1932 in Ellisville, Mississippi to John Lemuel McRae and Ruby Harper McRae. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church in Flowood.

Mary was one of a kind and always young at heart. She was an amazing cook, knew how to throw a great party and she loved her Mississippi State Bulldogs. She was a loyal friend and always treated those friends as family whom she loved with all her heart.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Robert L. Bennett, Sr. (who lovingly and sometimes anxiously called her “Mary Lizbeth”), her parents and brothers, Joseph A. McRae and John L. McRae.

Mary is survived by her son, Robert L. Bennett, Jr. and her daughter Sharon Criss (Randy); grandchildren who called her Mimi, Chris Hurt (Stacie), Lori Wartes (Michael), Alan Bennett, Kyle Bennett (Tessa); great-granddaughters Allie Hurt, Acey Wartes, Lily Parker Hurt, Ella Bennett, and Reagan Wartes. Her family loved her very much and will miss her deeply.

There are so many people that came on this unexpected journey with us and we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 26, 2018 with visitation at 9:30 am at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary’s name may be sent to St. Stephens Anglican Church, 5049 Lakeland Drive, Flowood, Mississippi 39232.
