Mary Coke

Mary Kate Coke, of Florence, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at her home at the age of 88.

Visitation will be held at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon on Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be at Dry Creek Baptist Church in Florence on Monday, March 24, 2025, at 2:00 pm with visitation from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. Mrs. Coke will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Coke was born on December 26, 1936, in Philadelphia, Mississippi, to Benjamin Wesley Jones and Kate Fulton Jones. The family moved to Florence when she was a young child, where she resided until her passing. She married George Riley Coke on March 25, 1955, and together they had four children and shared 55 years of marriage. She worked as a school bus driver for Rankin County Schools from 1978 until her retirement after thirty-two years of service. She enjoyed working on the farm and with the animals, and she was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Riley Coke; parents, Wes and Kate Jones; and brother, Jerry Jones.

Survivors include her children, Martha Harroff (David), Steve Coke (Lisa), Sidney Coke (Melinda), and Michelle Peace (Bob); grandchildren, Steven Coke (Jaycie), Leigha Coke, Justin Coke, Ben Peace (Kerry), and Wes Peace; and sister, Sara Crosby.
