Mrs. Mary Evelyn Cross Crapps, age 95, a resident of Leesburg passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Ms. Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation was held 12:00pm-2:00pm Thursday, November 1, 2012 from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral service was held 2:00pm Thursday from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in the Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Joseph Oster officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mrs. Crapps was born in Rankin County in 1917. She loved to turkey and squirrel hunt and according to her family; she could out hunt a man any day. Before her husband passed away she loved to help him on the farm with their cattle. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Bryant Crapps; 6 brothers, O.P. , Dewey, Wheeler, X.O., Willie and Ruby Lee Cross; sister, Emma Rippy and parents, Oley Patrick Cross and Martha Thrash Cross.
She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Willie Cross, Pat Cross, Rusty Cross, Jerry Cross, John Cross, Taylor Best and Torrey Hollingsworth. Honorary pallbearers were James Harrell, Dr. Charles Edwards, Jack Gordon and M.C. Lum.
