Mary Russell

Mary Ellene Weger Russell, age 84, passed from this life to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Wednesday, February 27, 2013 from the Hillsboro Baptist Church with internment in the Hillsboro Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Ted Hawkins will officiate.
Visitation was held from 4:30pm-7:30pm Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Mrs. Russell was born on March 11, 1928 in Forest, Ms. and was a resident of Hillsboro all her adult life. She owned and operated a poultry farm for many years before attending and graduating from Carthage Cosmetology School in 1979 at the age of 51, being the oldest graduate in the history of the school at the time. She owned and operated Hillsboro Hair Quarters for 28 years from 1979-2007.
Mrs. Russell was a member of Hillsboro Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, enjoyed singing in the choir, and was a member of the Joy Club. She served as president of the Hillsboro Baptist WMU for many years. She was a longtime member of the Hillsboro Homemaker’s Club. She also enjoyed Young at Heart at the Forest Baptist Church. Her hobbies included working outdoors in her garden, flowers, reading, sewing, playing cards/dominos, and traveling. Her last five years were spent at Bee Hive Homes of Forest.
Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her husband, William Duffie “WD” Russell, Jr , her parents Jasper Newton Weger and Jessie Ida Weger Hatch. Four brothers, William C. Weger, Raymond A. Weger, Delbert H. Weger and Glenn E. Weger. one sister, Gladys E. Weger.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty R. Sutton (Jimmy) of Brandon and Lorene R. Tolbert (Mike) of Forest, son Philip Russell (Helen) of Brandon. Four grandchildren, Michael Laseter, Carley R. Cryer (Justin), Andrew Russell, Will Tolbert, and special sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Michael Laseter, Andrew Russell, Will Tolbert, Justin Cryer, Rodney Russell, and Richard Dolan.
